Behold, the nacho state:

From The United Plates of America

And I've been called to serve this delicious state in jury duty. It's been freaking me for days now, having never served on a jury before, but now they're changing the dates around and it's annoying. I was supposed to go tomorrow, but today I called the 1-800 number they gave me and got a message saying that they're switching it to Friday. I'd warned my boss that I might have to go back Friday because I have no idea what's going to come of this, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to miss work, and now it looks like I will.

The thought of serving on a jury is scary :( Today my coworker told me about her mom's first jury experience: it was a rape case and she was the only woman on the jury. Everyone else wanted to acquit the accused rapist because the victim had "questionable morals" and therefore must have made up the charges. That right there is pretty much my nightmare scenario for serving on a jury. I'd blow a fuse over the frustration of trying to argue against bullshit like that. I know there's a small chance this trial is anything so dramatic, or even that I'll be selected, but still. Do not want.

You're on the league of Justice!

Are you on grand or petit jury? If it's grand jury, it isn't so bad. That's what I'm on right now. You just decide if there's enough evidence to go to trail. Granted, the evidence we've had to see hadn't been sunshine and roses, but you just pay attention and raise your hand at the appropriate vote. All of our cases so far have been clear cut enough that the votes were unanimous. You can totally do it.

I'll wear my cape!

Doesn't say on the summons. Grand jury doesn't sound too bad; I'm just not a fan of debating with strangers. Thanks :)

hope everything goes well with jury duty, and that it isn't a bad case. :/

Thanks :) Best case scenario is it's just selection and I don't get chosen. *fingers crossed*

Are you actually on the jury or have you just been called to jury duty? From what I understand, its boring as ever and you just sit there waiting for the entire day to see if they pick you, and theres a slim chance that they will. lol. I wouldn't worry about it, just bring a good book! =p

Pretty sure it's just jury selection, though they warn you that the trial might start immediately after if you're chosen. I called the number again tonight and it sounds like there's 100 people being called in. They even recommend you bring a book in the letter :)

Don't worry! You probably won't even be selected. Judging by how they keep postponing you, it sounds like they have a lot more potential jurors this week than they need. Just bring something to fight off the boredom; there will be lots of boredom.

Oh boredom. Hopefully they have comfortable chairs, then :) Thanks for the reassurance.
