Does anyone who's more comic-savvy than I know of an comics/graphic novels that have to do with either Arthurian romance, Shakespeare's The Tempest, or Milton's Paradise Lost?

It's for a school project- find some part of pop culture that can be considered a modern interpretation of the aforementioned stories and do some project on them (so far I think I just have to prove the connection between the source material and the modern material). It can also be a movie, song, etc (so other suggestions are welcome) but I'd rather go the comics route. I don't know which topic I'll be assigned yet, but those were my first three choices.

Neil Gaiman's depiction of Hell in the Sandman comics pulls heavily from Paradise Lost, especially his characterization of Lucifer, who's prominent in a few different collections.

Other than that, can't think of any prominent books with those themes atm, but this is some stuff google turned up:

Oh good, Sandman! I'd only read the first one, but this would be a good excuse to get into the rest of them. Thanks!

You might also want to check out Mike Carey's Sandman-spinoff Lucifer, where he gets a starring role.

If manga's okay, there's also Angel Sanctuary, where Lucifer is an anti-hero.

The most famous comic strip dealing with King Arthur is Hal Foster's "Prince Valiant," which began in the 1930s and continues to this day (by a different writing/art team). The Valiant comics from the 1940s are truly beautiful.

Fantagraphics has reprinted the comic strip in at least 30 volumes (some of which you might be able to get through a library loan). There's the possibility that some of the volumes were scanned and dropped onto an online torrent. There's also resource links at the wiki page.

BTW, thank you so much for my Squid Virtual Gift. It made me smile. :)

Oh yeah Prince Valiant! I haven't been following it, but I know it from the Sunday paper. I'll look into that, thanks! And for the wiki link, too! I did a quick bit of googling for King Arthur in comics but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask around.

You're welcome. :) I figured the squid was appropriate.
