Meme tiems
Feb. 26th, 2010 06:20 pmA meme, in which I talk about myself. Questions courtesy of

1. What's the origin of your username?
It's one I came up with when I was 14 or 15, a few years before I got a Livejournal, and used here and on the internet. I think my criteria when picking it was just animal name + girl and tortoisegirl happened to be available. Creative, I know. I don't actually have any connection to or particular love for tortoises.
2. Your favorite aspect of fandom?
Talking to people. This is the first time I've really gotten involved in a fandom and finding so many great people I can talk to about something I love so much was a bit unexpected, but something I really enjoy.
3. You look away from the computer. What's the first thing you see?
Ahaha, my gold teacup I dug out of a box last week. I got it at a thrift store a few years ago and it makes me feel like such a pimp when I use it.

4. Desert island album?
Hmm, I've never considered this before. I guess it's my dirty little secret that I don't listen to music a lot. It's pretty much only when I'm at my computer and not doing anything that involves too much concentration. I'd probably be fine without any music on that deserted island, but off the top of my head these are songs that I keep coming back to and wouldn't mind having around.
XTC- We're All Light
They Might Be Giants- Birdhouse in Your Soul
Audioslave- Doesn't Remind Me
Donovon- Happiness Runs (yeah it's a kid's song, shut up :P)
Pearl Jam- Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town
The Beatles (and/or the Pearl Jam cover)- You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
The New Pornographers- Adventures in Solitude
Gorillaz- Feel Good Inc.
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Dosed
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Pretty Little Ditty
The Roots- The Seed
Flogging Molly- Death Valley Queen
Bad Religion- Stranger Than Fiction
And if I were to fill it out more I'd comb through my early 90's music for more material.
5. What's the meaning of life?
Of human life on Earth as a whole, I don't think there is any meaning to our existence. On an individual basis, I don't know if there's any meaning there either. But since I do exist I guess putting meaning to my life would mean living as happily as possible while not impeding anyone else's happiness and helping people when I can. God I suck at philosophy.
