Fire alarms

Last night (technically this morning) the fire alarm went off. I was good and asleep and that alarm makes the loudest, most godawful noise I've ever heard. It's never gone off before so I had no idea what it was and I was running around the apartment in the dark with my hands over my ears. My dad was just as disorineted as I was and he tried hitting the alarm box to make it be quite (didn't work). I grabbed my flip flops and when outside where there were other tired looking people in their pajamas. There was even a girl holding her cat. My dad came out a few minutes later and said Stripes was in a carrier by the door in case we had to run in quickly to get him, and he said he had run straight into the carrier because he was seriouly freaked out. Four fire trucks and a bunch of police cars were there in a few minutes. But it was all a false alarm. Apparently an apartment flooded and the water set off the alarm (wtf?). We went back inside and I fell asleep when the alarm went off again. This time my dad just held a towel over the alarm box until it stopped. Screw fire alarms.
